Summer Plant Care Tips:

• As the summer heat settles in, how you water can make or break your garden's success. Instead of a light daily sprinkle, focus on deep, thorough watering at the base of your plants. This encourages roots to grow deeper into the soil, where it stays cooler and holds moisture longer.
• Weekly fertilizing and a light trimming every 6-8 weeks for container annuals can help promote new growth and continuing blooms! Check for water at least once a day. Not on watering needs often enough is the leading cause of container plant failure. Watering early in the morning is the best way to prevent evaporation and give your plants a chance to hydrate before the sun reaches its peak. It allows foilage to dry out during the day, which helps prevent disease and keep your garden thriving through the hottest months.
• How often should you check for watering with plants in the ground?
  • Annuals: Once every couple of days; Daily during hot, dry weather
  • Perennials, Shrubs, and Trees: Check twice a week for the first month after planting; then check just once a week for the rest of their first season in the ground
