Winter Houseplant Maintenance
- Scale back on watering in the winter, especially with arid plants like cacti, lithops, stapelia, and other succulents that rarely need water during the winter months. Since you're watering less frequently, you may have to run water through a few times for the soil to fully saturate. The frequency in which we water changes, but not the volume. Always water thoroughly when you do and let excess water drain out.
Cleaning your indoor plants this time of year can help them use their energy on the healthiest leaves. Dusting can provide better access to light, especially what little sunlight we get in Michigan this time of year!
